Building a great site is not a guarantee that you will be able to attract visitors or sales. The best way to attract visitors to your site is to be listed on web searches with over one-third of the world's population. Online, your web site has the potential of being seen by billions of potential customers.  The down side is over one million new websites are being launched per week.  That's millions of websites that you are going to be competing with for top rankings on web searches.

Yahoo, Google and MSN will all tell you the same thing.  They do not work with any search engine optimizing (SEO) company to help them place sites higher in searches.  Any company that tells you they do or guarantee top ten placement is lying.  Chances are they will use methods that will boost your ranking, such as gateway pages, hidden text, spamming and other less than friendly methods.
